Crafts and Laughs

When four friends in a psychology class at Hardin-Simmons University discovered their shared passion for crocheting, none of them had expected to form a club around crafting. What started as an idea to spend time together as friends evolved into the newly formed club known as “Crafts and Laughs.”

Crocheted items from the club.Crafts and Laughs supports crafting of all kinds. From the crocheting that formed the club to candle-making, 折纸, 和更多的, members can share crafts (and laughs) in a fellowship of artistic peers on campus. “We make crafting available to our peers,” club president and sophomore Briana Martinez shared. “We hold events every month with different types of crafts so that anyone can join.” The most recent event involved a paper airplane-making and throwing competition between the members. The club meets officially twice a month, and the members occasionally have unofficial meetings where their goal is to have fun.

The club is looking to grow and expand through more events and plans to give back to the community through volunteer work using their skills.

From homemade stress balls and hand sanitizers to crotched animals, the club has made many crafts and seeks to create even more in the future. “[Crafts and Laughs] is a wholesome and intentional group of students,” Briana shared. “Each of our members and officers has a big heart and an urge to learn more about crafts.”
